Diagnostic Techniques of Bovine Tuberculosis: A Review
نویسنده
چکیده
Bovine tuberculosis is a chronic bacterial disease of cattle caused by Mycobacterium bovis. In many countries, bovine tuberculosis is a major infectious disease of cattle, other domesticated animals and certain wildlife populations. It has a public health significance. Bovine tuberculosis is usually diagnosed in the live animals based on the basis of delayed hypersensitivity reactions using various tuberculin tests such as single intradermal, comparative intradermal, short thermal and stormont tests. Infection of bovine tuberculosis is often sub clinical; when present, clinical signs are not specifically distinctive. After death, infection is diagnosed by necropsy, histopathological and bacteriological examination and biochemical tests like nitrate reduction, niacin production, deamination of pyrazinamide and urease tests. Molecular tests like polymerase chain reactions, spoligotyping and blood-based laboratory tests; gamma interferon assay, the lymphocyte proliferation assay and the indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay can be used too.

AbstractBovine tuberculosis (BTB) remains an important economic and zoonotic problem in Latin America. Traditionally, the fight against BTB is initiated by the implementation of routine diagnostic tests for certification of free properties. The diagnosis of BTB can be made by direct and indirect methods, in which we can mention clinical, post mortem, histopathological, immunological, bacteriolo...

Mycobacterium bovis is the main causal agent of bovine tuberculosis (BTB) that causes zoonotic tuberculosis (TB) in humans, even though M. caprae; contribute to a lesser extent, which is mostly acquired from domestic animals and their products, in which cattle are the major reservoir. This review paper discussed the importance of zoonotic tuberculosis in Africa and highlighted the uses of molec...

In most countries, tuberculosis caused by Mycobacterium bovis is mainly a disease of cattle but can infect buffalos too. The disease can be controlled successfully by mean of a test-and-slaughter program. In Iran test-and-slaughter program has started since 1971 and prevalence of bovine tuberculosis reduces from 5% to less than 0.12% in recent years. In Western Azarbaijan, North West of Iran, t...
متن کاملBovine tuberculosis at the human-livestock-wildlife interface: is it a public health problem in Tanzania? A review.
Despite the apparent public health concern about Bovine tuberculosis (BTB) in Tanzania, little has been done regarding the zoonotic importance of the disease and raising awareness of the community to prevent the disease. Bovine tuberculosis is a potential zoonotic disease that can infect a variety of hosts, including humans. The presence of multiple hosts including wild animals, inefficient...
